This special vintage ring, made in a satisfying 11.0 grams of solid 14K yellow gold, is what is known as a Latvian "7 Day" ring (or "septiņdienu gredzens" in Latvian). Often presented as an engagement ring (though it is no longer strictly an engagement ring!) it is said that there was once a young Latvian woman so beautiful she had seven suitors, but could not decide which one to marry. She would solve the problem by having a jeweller create her a ring with seven pendants, every one inscribed with a different mark for each suitor. The first pendant to fall off would be the suitor she would choose. (Although, why the reference to "7 days" in the name of this style of ring is unclear, as it doesn't seem to feature in the legend. It might be something lost in translation!)
