The Victorian era is defined by the long reign of Queen Victoria and the period saw great social, political, technological and (perhaps most importantly) artistic changes. This period saw pieces informed by Queen Victoria’s life from romantic jewellery to more  somber and mournful pieces. 

More people than ever were using jewellery to express their personal identities and social commentaries; this may explain why so many fabulous pieces of Victorian jewellery remain to this day– there was so much of it being produced!
