This ring has the "wartime stamp" two small, overlapping circles with sections cut out that is officially known as the Utility Wedding-Ring Mark

During the World War II metal resources were required for the British war effort, wedding bands were limited in weight and karat. These rings were strictly 9-carat gold and weighed less than 2 pennyweights (approx. 3.1 grams).

The restriction continued into the immediate post-war period and w

as ended in early 1952.
