Mizpah rings were immensely popular back at the turn of the 19th century. Mizpah is a hebrew word for "watchtower", which is loosely interpreted into "May God watch over you." Today, Mizpah jewellery is usually given as a token to a loved one as a reminder that they are always loved.
The hallmarking on the inside of this ring indicates that it was manufactured in Birmingham, England in the year 1869. The faint initials engraved on the face of the signet ring are 'BJ'.
