Il s'agit d'un diamant taille brillant circulaire de transition, précurseur de la taille brillant rond moderne. Les diamants taillés de cette façon étaient populaires entre 1880 environ – date à laquelle ils ont souvent remplacé la taille européenne ancienne – et 1950 – année où la taille brillant rond a fait son apparition.
